Albert Einstein was a German-born physicist who developed the special and general theories of relativity and won the Nobel Prize for Physics in 1921.
Albert Einstein, was born on March 14, 1879, in Ulm, Germany. Einstein's early life was marked by curiosity and an unconventional approach to learning. Despite struggling in traditional school settings, he demonstrated an extraordinary ability to comprehend and theorize complex scientific concepts. His love for music, especially the violin, provided a creative outlet and a counterbalance to his scientific pursuits. "Mozart's music is so pure and beautiful that I see it as a reflection of the inner beauty of the universe," he said.
As a young adult, Albert Einstein worked at the Swiss Patent Office, a job that afforded him the time to delve into theoretical physics. Einstein is known for his famous E = mc^2 formula. In the equation, the increased relativistic mass (m) of a body times the speed of light squared (c^2) is equal to the kinetic energy (E) of that body.
Einstein was described as being shy, preferring to be alone, and often doing quiet and thoughtful activities. He possessed a sharp wit and a playful sense of humor, often using it to deflect the adulation he received. He was known for his unkempt hair and casual attire, a stark contrast to the formal image of scientists of his time.
Einstein and Rabindranath Tagore met on July 14, 1930 at Einstein's house in Germany. They discussed the nature of reality, beauty, consciousness, role of God, youth movement in Germany and also classical music. Einstein was deeply inspired by Mahatma Gandhi's teachings and so much so that he called him the most enlightened of all the politicians of his time.
Throughout his life, Einstein was an advocate for peace and civil rights, using his platform to speak out against war, nationalism and racial discrimination. His Jewish heritage forced him to emigrate to the United States in 1933, where he took a position at the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton, New Jersey.
Einstein’s groundbreaking work in theoretical physics, particularly the theory of relativity, transformed our understanding of time, space, and energy. In essence, Albert Einstein was a visionary thinker whose contributions to science and society.
“Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited, whereas imagination embraces the entire world.” - Albert Einstein, the brilliant physicist and Nobel laureate

Edmund Hillary (born in 1919), New Zealand mountain climber and Antarctic explorer (with the Tibetan mountaineer Tenzing Norgay), was the first to reach the summit of Mount Everest.
Before his Everest expedition, he had already gained mountaineering experience in the Southern Alps of New Zealand and the Himalayas. The successful ascent of Mount Everest brought him international acclaim and established him as a legendary figure in the world of exploration.
While Sir Edmund Hillary is best known for his historic ascent of Mount Everest, he also significantly contributed to Antarctic exploration. His team conducted various scientific experiments and collected valuable data on Antarctica's geology, meteorology, and glaciology.
Ed Hillary is perhaps best remembered for his humility and generosity. His own assessment of his life on his 85th birthday was typically modest: “What a fortunate person I have been!”
“I still had the same affection for New Zealand as I’ve always had. Didn’t change at all.” - Edmund Hillary, New Zealand mountain climber and Antarctic explorer
