  • Chocolate is made from the fruit of cacao trees, which are native to Central and South America.

Chocolate is made from the fruit of cacao trees, which are called pods. These pods contain cacao beans, and each pod typically contains around 30-40 beans. The beans are dried and roasted to create cocoa beans, which are used to make chocolate.

The history of chocolate can be traced back more than 3,000 years to the Mayans, Toltecs and the Aztecs. While cacao beans are native to Central and South America, the majority of the world's cocoa production occurs in West Africa, particularly in Ivory Coast and Ghana.

The fermenting process in chocolate production involves allowing the harvested cacao beans to ferment in a controlled environment. During fermentation, natural microorganisms present on the cacao beans break down the sugars in the pulp surrounding the beans. This process is crucial for developing the desired flavour and aroma compounds in the beans. Fermentation typically takes several days and is followed by drying the beans before further processing.

  • Clouds consist of water droplets and ice crystals that evaporate from the earth’s water-bodies. These together are very heavy yet they float. Since their weight is spread out in a large area and with small individual particles, the effect of the earth’s gravitational pull is almost absent. Additionally, the clouds are able to float due to the earth’s rising warm air. However, they do not stay in the air forever. The rising warm air cools them down, condenses the water vapour and adds to the droplets of clouds. Eventually, the droplets become too heavy and result in rainfall.
